Authority Set application process interview questions

  1. How did you find the process of the Authority Set application?
Although the time constraints were challenging, overall the process was laborious and enjoyable. The guidelines ranged from open ended to concise, depending on what governance change happened during a specific day or week. In general we were impressed with the evolution and execution of the process.
  2. What areas of the application process do you think need amending and why?
More clarity on the timelines and information provided, especially when it comes to official application materials. Often times a google doc would be released, but when it came time to put the information into the formal application the format or questions had changed – this caused some confusion dealing with a global team and a single spokesperson for the group.
  3. What has been the most difficult aspect of the process?
We do enjoy change and challenges, which was part of the fun – with the limited time and changes, this put extra pressure on the team and was a little nerve racking considering the high stakes.
  4. What has been the most enjoyable aspect of the process?
When engaged with friends or colleagues in a professional setting you get to experience people in a different light, I (Dan) can’t express how grateful I am for the core members of this team, our Advisors and support members that have made this dream a reality. The trials and triumphs of the human spirit was what I enjoyed the most, observing this internally in our team, but also the Factom community.
  5. What would you have done differently in hindsight?
Tough question as it was a positive outcome for us. I guess in all sincerity I would have performed more of an official application process for the core team. As you begin to do business with people in an intimate setting like this, you truly get to know all aspects of their character and one of the original core members of our team had not disclosed some health problems that caused some major stress down the line.
  6. Any recommendations for teams that are applying to join the authority set?
Stay active in the Factom community. It can be quite a challenge jumping between all the different channels on Discord, Reddit, Factomize forums and other resources, but it is imperative for your team’s success. Reach out to community members, you will be pleasantly surprised at how receptive and helpful the community is as a whole.
  7. What would you like to see included in an Authority Node summit?
Collaboration of ideas and experience that range from business, server world, and general social/political elements of being an essential part of the Factom blockchain. Brief presentations by all companies and networking.
  8. What would your team be able to uniquely contribute to the summit?
Marketing collateral and reach, pre and post event.
  9. Any other suggestions for how the summit should be run, what should be included primary focuses, etc?
Make it fun and interactive through hackathons, direct interactions with the members of Factom inc, and other Authority Node Operators.
